The Aurum Equestrian Riding School is here to make your riding dreams a reality, whether that is riding in the Olympics, or just to learn to be comfortable around horses. Our approach is designed to create well educated riders as well as well educated horsemen and women.
Horsemanship is a collective term for a variety of horse training and care techniques including work both on the horse and on the ground. Horsemanship is where many life lessons are learned.
This is what people think of when they think of horses - learning to ride - walk, trot, canter, jump. This is what initially interests us in riding lessons. These are our mounted lessons
This is the important part, caring for the whole horse mentally, physically and emotionally and ensuring their needs are met. This is about learning how to speak horse so one can read them and understand what they are thinking and feeling. This is learning about how a horse moves and how to identify when they are hurting or feeling sick. This is learning about hoof care, vet care, and nutrition. This is about learning that these are living breathing sentient beings and how to nurture them. This is ultimately why we stay riding horses. These are our unmounted horsemanship classes. This is a photo from a recent horsemanship class where we learned the parts of the horse
Aurum has taken great time and expense to curate a fantastic group of horses for our horseback riding lessons. All of our riding lesson horses have been show horses at some time in their lives and many still are! Every single one of our horses could go to a CHJA show and bring home good ribbons! We source our school horses from top show programs around the country for our riding school in Parker and select them for temperament as well as versatility! This is Rue, one of our ponies that teaches more advanced students
